Algo provides a set of Ansible scripts that automate the creation of a personal VPN server using modern, secure protocols. It configures IKEv2 with AES‑GCM, SHA‑2 and P‑256 for iOS, macOS and Linux, and also offers WireGuard support for those platforms plus Android and Windows 11, generating configuration files, QR codes and Apple profiles to simplify client setup.
The tool is aimed at individuals who want a self‑hosted VPN on a cloud provider without managing low‑level networking details. It includes helper scripts for user management, optional ad‑blocking DNS, limited SSH tunneling, and privacy‑focused logging with automatic rotation. Deployments run on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS with automatic security updates and can be launched on a wide range of clouds—including DigitalOcean, AWS, Azure, GCP, Hetzner, Linode, and others—or on a user‑controlled Ubuntu server.
Algo deliberately excludes legacy ciphers, L2TP/IKEv1, OpenVPN, Tor and similar services, focusing on strong defaults and minimal exposure rather than anonymity or censorship‑circumvention.
