The application handles creation, updating, and extraction of a wide range of archive formats on macOS, including ZIP, TAR, TGZ, TBZ, TXZ, 7‑ZIP, RAR, DMG, XZ, Zstandard, Brotli, and several others accessed via external utilities. Users can add, delete, rename, and edit files within an archive, and the tool can strip macOS‑specific metadata to produce archives that behave well on Windows. It also supports joining split files and opening winmail.dat, ePub, PDF, Flash, and many software archive types.

Quick Look integration allows previewing of archived contents without extracting, while AES‑256 encryption protects sensitive data. A built‑in password manager stores archive passwords in an encrypted vault and can generate strong passwords automatically. The Finder extension adds contextual menu and toolbar options for applying preset compression or extraction settings, and a macOS sharing extension lets users compress documents from other applications.
