Beutl
Video editor
Beutl is a free, open‑source video editor that runs on Windows, macOS and Linux. It provides a timeline‑based interface for assembling clips and applying a wide range of visual effects, including blur, drop shadow, inner shadow, border, stroke, clipping, expansion, contraction, high‑contrast, hue rotation, light, LumaColor, saturation, dithering, brightness, gamma, inversion, LUTs, blend modes, negative‑positive, chroma key, color key, split, transform, mosaic and color offset.
The software supports keyframe animation with easing, allowing users to create fades, slides and other motion effects for various objects. Over 28 built‑in color filters and effects are available, and additional functionality can be added through extensions that may introduce new effects, objects, codecs or UI components.
Beutl includes tools for automatically installing FFmpeg libraries and executables, and a “Sugar Shaker” package that simplifies common animation tasks without manual keyframes. Users can publish or install extensions via an integrated store, fostering community‑driven expansion of the editor’s capabilities.
