CodeKit
Web development tool for compiling and auto-refreshing.
CodeKit is a native macOS application that integrates a wide range of web‑development tools into a single graphical interface. It handles compilation for languages such as Sass, Less, Stylus, CoffeeScript, Pug, Slim, Haml, TypeScript, JavaScript (including ES6), Markdown, JSON, SVG and common image formats, allowing developers to enable options like compression or transpilation with a simple checkbox rather than editing configuration files.
The app also provides live‑preview features: CSS changes are injected without a full page reload, and a built‑in browser‑sync service mirrors interactions across any device that runs a modern browser, supporting TLS and multiple platforms. Image optimization, script and stylesheet minification, unused‑CSS removal, cache‑busting, and source‑map generation are performed automatically, streamlining the build and testing workflow.
In addition to the compiled language support, CodeKit includes a UI for npm package management, letting users install, update, and monitor dependencies without leaving the application. All of these capabilities are offered without requiring external plugins, build scripts, or subscription fees, targeting web developers who prefer a point‑and‑click environment on macOS.
