DavMail
POP/IMAP/SMTP/Caldav/Carddav/LDAP exchange gateway allowing users to use any mail/calendar client with an Exchange server, even from the internet or behind a firewall through Outlook Web Access.
DavMail acts as a protocol gateway between Microsoft Exchange (including Office 365) and any standard‑compliant mail or calendar client. It translates Exchange’s proprietary interfaces into POP, IMAP, SMTP, CalDAV, CardDAV and LDAP, enabling users to send, receive and synchronize email, contacts and calendar data from applications such as Thunderbird, Apple iCal, iPhone Mail, Android clients and others, even when the Exchange server is accessed only through Outlook Web Access or sits behind a firewall.
The gateway is written in Java and runs on Windows, Linux and macOS, with distribution packages including installers, RPMs, Debian packages, Flatpak, Docker images and a platform‑independent zip. It provides LDAP access to the global address book and personal contacts, supporting address completion and free/busy information in calendar invitations. SSL and Kerberos options are available for secure deployments.
DavMail is released under the GPL‑2.0 license, is self‑hostable, and does not require a subscription. It is maintained as a stable, open‑source project with continuous integration builds and community contributions.
