Dawarich

Visualize your location history, track your movements, and analyze your travel patterns with complete privacy and control (alternative to Google Timeline a.k.a. Google Location History).

Dawarich is a self‑hosted web application that stores and visualizes personal location history without external advertising or data‑selling. It accepts imports from Google Maps Timeline, OwnTracks, GPX, GeoJSON and other sources, and can receive live updates from a range of mobile and desktop tracking apps. The data is displayed on an interactive map with layers such as heatmaps, points, and routes, and users can create trips, draw custom areas, and view statistical summaries of distance travelled, countries visited and time spent.

The platform includes family‑sharing features that let multiple consenting users view each other’s locations on the same map, and it can integrate with photo‑management tools to show geotagged images alongside movement data. All functionality runs locally via Docker or other supported environments, giving owners full control over retention and encryption.

Designed as an open‑source, AGPL‑3.0 alternative to Google Timeline, Dawarich offers a stable, free‑tier core with no subscription requirement, allowing individuals or small groups to keep a permanent, private record of their travels.
