Devin for Terminal

Devin for Terminal is a command‑line interface that runs locally on a developer’s machine, providing an interactive agent that can continue processing tasks even when the laptop is closed. It is optimized for direct access to the user’s codebase, tools, and environment, allowing developers to work with their existing setup without leaving the terminal.

When needed, the agent can hand off execution to a cloud‑based instance that runs on its own virtual machine, offering additional capabilities such as testing, video recordings, and automated fixes, so that work can be resumed later as a completed pull request. The tool integrates multiple frontier language models—including Opus 4.7, GPT 5.5, and SWE‑1.6—within a single interface.

Implemented in Rust, Devin for Terminal is lightweight and performant, capable of running on very low‑resource terminals such as an original VT100, while still providing fast response times for interactive development workflows.
