far2l
Orthodox file manager.
far2l is a Linux‑oriented fork of the classic FAR Manager, providing an orthodox file manager that can also run on macOS and BSD. It offers a dual‑mode interface: a graphical backend based on wxWidgets or SDL for desktop environments, and several terminal backends (TTY|Xi, TTY|X, plain TTY) that integrate with X11 for clipboard and key handling. The program follows the FAR keyboard conventions, supporting extensive shortcut customization.
A range of plugins extends its capabilities, including file‑transfer protocols (SFTP, SCP, FTP, SMB, NFS, WebDAV, AWS S3), archive handling (multiarc, arclite), text editing enhancements (hex editor, colorer, calculator, Python scripting), and utilities such as ADB integration, memo notes, and image viewing. Plugins can be enabled through the options menu or compiled in.
The project is released under GNU GPL v2, builds on code from FAR for Windows, WINE, and other open‑source components, and is marked as stable though some platforms are listed as beta. Continuous integration badges indicate build and static‑analysis status, and community packages are available for various Linux distributions.
