Flacon

Open source audio file encoder

Visit

Flacon reads a single audio file that contains an entire album and, using the information from an accompanying CUE file, extracts each track into its own audio file. It supports common source formats such as WAV, FLAC, APE, WavPack and True Audio, and can write the resulting tracks in FLAC, WAV, WavPack, AAC, OGG or MP3. During conversion it can perform ReplayGain analysis in album‑gain or track‑gain mode, and it automatically detects the character set of CUE files.

The program allows users to edit metadata tags either globally for the whole album or individually for each track. Tag editing is organized into album‑related and track‑related sections, and recent versions display additional fields such as Date, Genre and Song writer. It also generates a separate CUE file for each output track.

Flacon runs on macOS (and FreeBSD) and uses a multi‑threaded conversion pipeline for faster processing. It includes features such as disk‑validation speed improvements, proxy support for fetching disk information, and a built‑in log viewer to simplify troubleshooting. The software is released as open source and is considered stable.
