Focalboard

Focalboard is an open‑source, multilingual project‑management tool that can be self‑hosted or run as a desktop application on Windows, macOS and Linux. It offers Kanban, table, gallery and calendar views, allowing individuals and teams to define, organize, track and manage work in a single place. The software supports real‑time collaboration through card comments, @mentions and configurable board permissions, and includes unlimited boards, custom attributes, file sharing and priority labeling.

The personal edition is available as a standalone desktop app for single‑user todo and project tracking, while the personal server edition provides a multi‑user server that can be installed on Ubuntu and accessed via a web browser. Both editions are released under the MIT license, require no subscription, and are free to use and modify.

Focalboard distinguishes itself with a fully open‑source codebase, extensive template library for common use cases such as project tasks, content calendars and roadmaps, and the ability to run locally without external services. It also integrates with the Mattermost community for support and contribution.
