Franz aggregates a wide range of messaging and chat services—such as Slack, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Telegram, WeChat, Google Hangouts, Skype and Zendesk—into a single desktop application. Users can add unlimited accounts for each service, enabling simultaneous management of multiple personal and business profiles without switching between separate programs. The app offers workspaces that isolate sets of services, allowing users to tailor notification settings per workspace and reduce distractions when focusing on specific projects or separating work from private life.

In addition to messaging, Franz includes a built‑in task creation feature that converts selected text from any conversation into to‑do items, which can be organized into lists and assigned priorities.
