Geany

Geany provides a graphical text editor that includes many IDE‑like capabilities while remaining small and fast. It runs on Linux, Windows and macOS and supports more than 50 programming languages out of the box, offering syntax highlighting, code navigation and basic project management without imposing heavy resource usage.

The editor is highly configurable: users can change color themes, add new filetype definitions, and adjust numerous settings to fit personal workflows. An extensible plugin system supplies additional functionality such as version‑control integration, spell checking and project organization, and developers can create or modify plugins through a documented API.

Geany is released under GPL v2, is translated into over 40 languages, and benefits from an active community of contributors who maintain the software across platforms and provide support via mailing lists, GitHub, Matrix and Mastodon.
