Haiker
Hacker News App for non-native english speaker
Haiker is a mobile client for Hacker News that automatically translates stories and comments into the user’s chosen language. When a post or comment is opened, the app displays the translated text alongside the original, supporting languages such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, German, French, and English. Users can read the site without needing to understand English and can compose replies in their native language, which the app converts back to English before submission.
The application offers additional utilities typical of news readers, including push notifications for replies, a dark‑mode interface, and bookmarking of articles for later reference. Translation settings are configured in the app, and the auto‑translation operates transparently without requiring copy‑paste actions. An Hacker News account is only necessary for posting or voting; browsing and translation work without authentication.
Designed for non‑native English speakers, Haiker aims to remove language barriers from the Hacker News community while preserving the ability to participate in discussions using the platform’s standard English‑based format.
