HedgeDoc
Realtime collaborative markdown notes on all platforms, formerly known as CodiMD and HackMD CE.
HedgeDoc is a web‑based markdown editor that enables multiple users to edit the same document simultaneously. The application runs in a browser, requiring no additional client software, and stores all data on a self‑hosted server, giving operators full control over their content. Real‑time collaboration is achieved by sharing a note link, and changes are reflected instantly for all participants.
The editor includes a presentation mode powered by reveal.js, allowing markdown documents to be displayed as slide decks, and it supports embedding graphs, diagrams, and other media. Permissions are managed through a simple dropdown, while a revision history records each change and permits reverting to earlier versions. The system is lightweight enough to run on modest hardware such as a Raspberry Pi.
HedgeDoc is released under the AGPL‑3.0 license, making it free and open source. It is maintained as a stable 1.x series with a community‑driven development model, and a forthcoming 2.0 rewrite separates the backend and frontend for future enhancements.
