The program provides a low‑level hex editor that can read, edit and write raw disk blocks as well as individual files and disk images. It supports custom block sizes, detects partitions and other sub‑ranges, and can handle common structures such as MBR, GPT, HFS, UDF and ISO 9660. A journal file records previous block contents on the desktop, allowing changes to be undone, and a template system lets users interpret and analyse structural data.

It runs on macOS (10.10+), Windows (7, 10) and 64‑bit Linux with GTK3, and can be launched with administrative privileges on macOS to access non‑removable disks. The editor can operate over a network, copy partially damaged disks with bad blocks zero‑filled, and interact with connected iPods to display firmware partitions. It also allows saving a block range to a file and writing a file back to disk, and includes utilities for installing PC BIOS bootloaders for both MBR and GPT schemes.

The tool is intended for users familiar with binary‑level disk manipulation, such as system administrators, forensic analysts or developers needing direct access to disk structures. It is free, stable, and includes a journal‑based undo mechanism, but it warns that improper use can corrupt data, so backups and caution are recommended.
