ImageOptim
Compress images and remove EXIF information.
ImageOptim reduces image file sizes by applying a series of open‑source compression tools (including MozJPEG, pngquant, Pngcrush, 7zip, SVGO, and Google Zopfli) while preserving visual quality. It also strips private EXIF metadata, embedded thumbnails, comments, and unnecessary color profiles, with an option to retain metadata when needed. The application works via drag‑and‑drop, Finder Services, Dock drops, or command‑line invocation, and integrates with macOS features such as Mail markup and Sketch.
The tool is aimed at web publishers, app developers, and anyone who needs smaller images for faster loading or reduced storage. By combining multiple optimizers automatically, it delivers the smallest possible files without requiring manual configuration. Users can enable lossy minification for JPEG, SVG, animated GIF, and PNG to achieve further reductions when a slight quality loss is acceptable.
ImageOptim is released under GPL v2 or later, is free and open source, and supports macOS 11+ (with legacy builds for older versions). It is localized into many languages and can be extended via its command‑line interface.
