Jedit Ω

Jedit Ω is a macOS‑only text editor that combines basic editing with advanced processing features. It offers word‑processor‑style capabilities such as document comparison, extensive search‑and‑replace, sorting, input completion, syntax highlighting, and window splitting both horizontally and vertically. The editor also integrates ChatGPT‑based AI assistance for text manipulation.

The software targets a broad audience, from programmers and writers to novelists, and has been in use in Japan for nearly three decades. Both a free edition and a paid Pro edition are available, with the Pro version unlocking additional functionality. Users can obtain Jedit Ω either from the App Store or directly from the project’s website; the two distributions share the same feature set but differ in icon color and sandbox restrictions.

Jedit Ω runs on Apple Silicon and macOS 10.10 or later, with recommended support for macOS 10.13 and newer. It includes work‑arounds for known display issues on macOS 26, and it provides a familiar, feature‑rich environment for general text processing on the Mac platform.
