Jitsi Meet
Secure video conferencing app
The desktop client wraps the Jitsi Meet web interface in an Electron shell, letting users join any Jitsi Meet deployment from Windows, macOS, or Linux without a browser. It provides built‑in auto‑updates, screen‑sharing, and an always‑on‑top window, and supports deeplinks that open a specific room on a configured Jitsi server. A beta implementation of end‑to‑end encryption is included, while remote‑control functionality is currently disabled for security reasons.
Target users are individuals or organizations that already run Jitsi Meet and want a native‑looking application with quick access to meetings, including the ability to launch rooms directly from links. The client is suitable for users who prefer a desktop experience over a browser and need features such as screen sharing and persistent window placement.
What distinguishes this client is its seamless integration with existing Jitsi installations, automatic update handling, and cross‑platform availability through downloadable installers, AppImage, Debian packages, and Homebrew cask. The project also offers a development SDK for extending functionality such as remote control and always‑on‑top behavior.
