KeePassX

KeePassX stores usernames, passwords, URLs, attachments, comments comments other personal data in a single encrypted database. Users can assign custom titles and icons to each entry and organize entries into hierarchical groups that are fully configurable. A built‑in search lets users locate items within a specific group or across the entire database, and a configurable password generator creates strong passwords quickly.

The database is encrypted with either AES (Rijndael) or Twofish using a 256‑bit key, providing strong protection for the stored information. Compatibility with the KeePass Password Safe format allows users to exchange databases with that application without conversion.

Targeted at individuals with high security requirements, KeePassX offers a lightweight, cross‑platform interface under the GNU GPL. It runs on macOS and other systems, and development has ceased at version 2.0.3.
