MetaVeils

MetaVeils is a macOS‑only tool that scans documents, images, and PDFs for personally identifiable information and hidden metadata, then removes or redacts the detected items before the files are shared with AI chatbots such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. It operates entirely offline, using pattern matching and OCR to locate names, email addresses, phone numbers, credit‑card numbers, GPS coordinates, and other sensitive data, and it can also extract and strip EXIF, GPS, and filesystem metadata from visual files.

The application supports batch processing, allowing users to sanitize multiple files in a single operation, and it provides a preview of the changes that will be applied. It targets a range of users who need to protect privacy when interacting with AI, including developers, business professionals, journalists, legal experts, and privacy‑focused individuals.

By handling both content redaction and metadata removal locally, MetaVeils aims to prevent accidental exposure of personal or confidential information when documents are pasted into AI assistants.
