Monica

Personal relationship manager, and a new kind of CRM to organize interactions with your friends and family.

Monica is a self‑hostable, open‑source web application that functions as a personal relationship manager. It lets users store detailed information about family, friends, and acquaintances, including contact details, relationship types, notes, photos, documents, and custom fields such as gender or pet data. The system provides reminders for birthdays and other important dates, tracks activities, tasks, and journal entries, and supports multiple users, vaults, labels, and currencies. It is available under the AGPL‑3.0 license and can be run for free without subscription.

The tool is aimed at individuals who want a private, CRM‑style way to remember and organize social interactions, especially those who may have difficulty recalling personal details, such as people with Asperger syndrome, Alzheimer’s disease, or introverts. It is positioned as a private “rolodex” rather than a social network, with data stored on the user’s own server or a hosted instance.

Monica distinguishes itself by offering a comprehensive set of contact‑management features—custom activity types, diary entries, gift ideas, debt tracking—while remaining ad‑free and under the user’s full control. The project is actively maintained, multilingual in 27 languages, and encourages community contributions.
