Octobox
Take back control of your GitHub Notifications.
Octobox is a self‑hostable web application that extends GitHub’s notification system with additional workflow features. It introduces an “archived” state so users can mark notifications as done, and automatically restores them to the inbox when new activity occurs on the associated issue or pull request. The interface also supports starring important items, displaying status information such as CI results, labels, and author details alongside the basic notification metadata.
The tool provides extensive filtering and search capabilities, allowing notifications to be narrowed by repository, organization, type, action, state, CI status, reason, and other attributes. Keyboard shortcuts enable rapid triage without a mouse, and a GitHub App can be installed to enrich private and public notifications with live data.
Octobox is released under the AGPL‑3.0 license, offered as a free tier for open‑source projects, and can be deployed via Docker, Heroku, or as a desktop wrapper using Nativefier. Its source code is publicly available on GitHub, encouraging community contributions and independent hosting.
