OpenYak

The open-source Claude Desktop with any model you want

Visit

OpenYak runs an AI agent directly on a user’s desktop, treating a local folder as a workspace. The agent reads the files in that folder, invokes built‑in tools such as file editors, shell commands, parsers, and browsers, and then returns concrete artifacts—reports, tables, PDFs, or other generated files—inside the application rather than a continuous chat stream.

It supports a wide range of language models: users can bring their own keys for cloud services, select from over a hundred providers via OpenRouter, or run offline models through Ollama. The interface lets users pick a workspace, watch tool execution progress, and review the resulting output, with privacy‑by‑default design that keeps data on the local machine.

The system is aimed at productivity scenarios that involve office automation, data analysis, finance operations, content creation, and other workflow‑centric tasks where turning a collection of files into finished deliverables is needed. It is open source, experimental, and available for Windows.
