Outguess
Steganography tool to hide a document in an image
Outguess is a macOS application that embeds a user‑selected document inside a JPEG image using steganography. The workflow consists of four steps: choose the carrier image, pick the file to hide, set an optional password for the hidden content, and press “Hide” to produce a new image that contains the concealed document.
The tool targets individuals who need a simple way to protect files by disguising them as ordinary pictures, such as security researchers, auditors, or anyone requiring basic covert storage. It supports password protection of the embedded data, adding a layer of confidentiality beyond the obscurity of the steganographic embedding.
Outguess is distributed as a free, stable release (version 1.1.6) for macOS, with source archives and checksums provided for verification. Documentation, screenshots, and a contact channel are available on the project’s website, and donations can be made via PayPal to support further development.
