OVITO

OVITO provides an interactive environment for visualizing and analyzing particle‑based simulation data. It supports atomistic, molecular, granular, grid‑based, and mesh‑based models, allowing users to import data from many standard and custom simulation codes and explore it in real time with a 3‑D graphical interface. The software uses a pipeline‑based workflow that preserves original data while applying a series of non‑destructive analysis steps.

Typical users are researchers and engineers who work with simulations ranging from small ab‑initio systems to large collections containing hundreds of millions of atoms or particles. Built‑in analysis functions include geometric surface calculation, pore and cavity detection, Voronoi tessellation, displacement and strain fields, atomic structure classification, grain segmentation, dislocation analysis, defect identification, and time‑series statistics such as plots and histograms.

OVITO is available as a free community edition (OVITO Basic) and a commercial professional edition (OVITO Pro) that adds extra analysis, visualization, and automation capabilities. It runs on macOS, Windows, and Linux, and can be accessed through a desktop GUI or a Python package installable via conda or pip.
