Pixelorama
2D sprite editor made with the Godot Engine
Pixelorama is an open‑source editor for creating 2‑D pixel art, built with the Godot Engine. It provides a comprehensive set of drawing tools, customizable mouse button mappings, and pixel‑specific algorithms for clean edges, scaling, and rotation. The application supports animated work through a timeline with layers and frames, offering onion‑skinning, audio sync, frame tags, and the ability to draw while playback runs.
The software includes a robust layer system that allows clipping masks and non‑destructive effects such as outlines, gradient maps, and drop shadows, as well as tilemap layers for rectangular, isometric, or hexagonal tiles. Users can manage palettes, import custom color sets, and apply a range of visual effects. Guides, grids, and tile mode help maintain precision, while automatic backups protect against crashes.
Export options cover PNG, animated PNG, spritesheets, GIF, and video formats, and a 3‑D layer feature lets users incorporate 3‑D models into their pixel projects. The UI is highly customizable, and the Android tablet version is available in an experimental state.
