PmWiki
Wiki-based system for collaborative creation and maintenance of websites.
PmWiki is a PHP‑based content‑management system that lets groups create and maintain websites using a wiki interface. Each page appears as a normal web page but includes an “Edit” link, allowing users to modify content or add new pages without needing to write HTML or CSS. Editing can be open to anyone or limited to selected authors, and password protection can be applied to the whole site, specific groups of pages, or individual pages.
The system supports customizable appearance through skins and HTML templates, and administrators can alter or create their own designs. Access control is self‑contained yet can integrate with external authentication sources such as .htaccess, LDAP, or MySQL databases. A lightweight core is extendable via “recipes” – extensions that add markup, features, or functionality – and hundreds of these are available in the PmWiki Cookbook.
PmWiki is released under GPL‑3.0, is self‑hostable, and is maintained as a stable, free‑tier project. It targets users who need a simple, extensible wiki platform for collaborative web content without requiring deep technical expertise.
