PrettyMux

The linux terminal built for Agents and Multiplexing

Visit

PrettyMux is a native Linux terminal multiplexer built with GTK 4 and based on Ghostty, designed to host both traditional shells and AI‑driven agents side by side. It presents a single window that can contain split terminal panes, an embedded WebKit browser, and multiple workspaces, each with its own vertical tab bar that displays contextual information such as git branches, working directories, ports, and automatically detected favicons.

The interface includes visual notification rings that illuminate panes when an attached agent requires attention, and a fuzzy search palette for quickly locating files, commands, or workspaces. Users can control layout and navigation through an extensive set of keyboard shortcuts, toggle an in‑app browser, and switch themes with live preview. A broadcast mode enables simultaneous input to all panes, while a lightweight, GPU‑accelerated rendering pipeline aims to keep performance smooth on modest hardware.

Developers and power users who run AI agents or need to coordinate multiple terminal sessions within a single, scriptable environment will find the workspace‑centric design, built‑in socket API, and integration with tools like `prettymux-open` useful for automating workflows. The project is experimental and available for Linux distributions, Flatpak, AppImage, and early‑stage macOS and Windows builds.
