Pulsar
Text editor
Pulsar is a community‑driven text editor that continues the goals of the discontinued Atom project, aiming to combine deep customizability with a usable out‑of‑the‑box experience. It runs on macOS, Windows, and Linux, and supports installing or creating packages directly from the editor, allowing users to extend functionality as needed. Integration with language servers provides autocompletion, smart navigation, and other IDE‑like features.
The editor lets you open single files, whole projects, or multiple projects in a single window, with pane splitting for side‑by‑side comparison and editing. Built‑in support for multiple cursors, snippets, and semantic selections streamlines routine editing tasks. Git workflows are accessible inside the interface, including branch switching, staging, conflict resolution, and viewing GitHub pull requests.
Customization is driven by configuration files written in JavaScript or CSS, enabling users to adjust appearance and behavior to a fine degree. This hyper‑hackable design makes Pulsar suitable for developers who value extensibility and control over their editing environment.
