quick look JSON
Quick Look plugin for JSON files
The Quick Look JSON plugin adds native preview support for JSON files on macOS. When a JSON document is selected in Finder, the plugin renders the data as a color‑coded tree, allowing users to expand or collapse individual nodes to explore the structure without opening a separate editor. Installation is straightforward: copying the QuickLookJSON.qlgenerator file into either the system‑wide /Library/QuickLook/ directory or the user‑specific ~/Library/QuickLook/ folder, followed by restarting the Quick Look manager with `qlmanage -r`. Because macOS Catalina introduced new security requirements, the plugin must be reinstalled after upgrading to that version. This tool is aimed at developers, data analysts, or anyone who works with JSON files and wants a quick visual inspection directly from the file manager. It is a stable, macOS‑only utility that enhances productivity by simplifying JSON navigation.
