Syncloud

Syncloud provides a self‑hosted platform that lets users run a collection of popular web applications on their own hardware. The system is distributed as a disk image for various device architectures or as a pre‑built device, and it includes a Debian‑based operating system, a Snap‑based installer, and a platform snap that supplies shared services and device‑wide settings. Users access the installed apps through a web interface, and the platform supports more than thirty applications ranging from file storage to communication tools, all executed locally on the user’s machine.

The project targets individuals or organizations that want to keep their data under their direct control, avoiding reliance on external cloud providers. Because the software is open source under GPL‑3.0 and runs without a subscription, it can be customized or extended by developers who wish to build or package additional apps using the provided Snap tooling and Drone build pipeline.

Key technical components include the Debian base, the Snap installer for managing apps, and the platform snap that coordinates shared resources. Installation can be performed on existing hardware by flashing the provided image or by using the pre‑configured device, and developers can compile and install snap packages locally via the Drone CLI.
