TigerVNC
Multi-platform VNC client and server
TigerVNC implements the Virtual Network Computing (VNC) protocol, allowing users to launch and interact with graphical applications on remote machines. It includes both a client and a server, delivering the performance needed for 3D graphics and video playback while keeping a consistent user experience across supported platforms. The software also supports advanced authentication methods and TLS encryption to secure remote sessions.
The project supplies self‑contained binaries for Linux, Windows installers, and a universal binary for macOS, and it is packaged for many Linux distributions such as Fedora, OpenSUSE, FreeBSD, Arch Linux, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and SUSE Linux Enterprise. Source code is available on GitHub, and pre‑release builds of experimental versions are provided.
TigerVNC is maintained through mailing lists for announcements, user support, and development discussion, and its Unix man pages are also presented in HTML form. Documentation covers the various command‑line programs, which have equivalents on Windows, and the RFB protocol specification is referenced from the community‑maintained rfbproto project.
