Vernier Spectral Analysis
Spectrometer data analysis tool
The application enables users to collect, analyze, and share spectrometer data on a range of devices, including ChromeOS, iOS, Android, Windows, and macOS. It guides users through data‑collection steps, allowing rapid acquisition of full‑spectrum absorbance or percent transmittance measurements in under a second. Built‑in tools support curve fitting, data interpolation, and calculation of kinetic reaction order, while a color strip visualizes transmission on the spectrum graph.
Designed for educational settings in biology and chemistry, the software facilitates experiments such as Beer’s law, enzyme kinetics, and pigment analysis. An Advanced Full Spectrum Mode lets students explore the direct relationship between absorbance and transmittance and observe phenomena like Stokes shifts. The interface is intended to be user‑friendly, providing on‑screen instructions and sample experiment resources.
The program works with Vernier’s Go Direct spectrophotometers, which connect via Bluetooth or USB and cover visible, UV‑visible, and fluorescence measurements. It is a free, stable macOS core product aimed at college and high‑school analytical chemistry curricula.
