VRAM Pro
Control VRAM allocation of unified memory
VRAM Pro lets mac on Silicon users manually set how much of the system’s unified memory is reserved for GPU tasks. Through a graphical interface you can choose a preset or enter a specific amount, and the app updates the kernel setting that controls the VRAM limit, with changes protected by admin‑level validation and hash checking. Real‑time status shows the current allocation, and a “Default VRAM” option restores the operating system’s automatic management.
The tool targets developers, AI researchers, and creative professionals who need predictable, high‑throughput GPU memory for Metal, CoreML, local large‑language‑model inference, 3D rendering, or 8K video editing. By allocating a larger share of RAM to the GPU, users can reduce bottlenecks that arise when the system’s automatic allocation is insufficient for demanding workloads.
VRAM Pro operates only on Apple Silicon (M1‑M4) Macs and does not run on Intel hardware. It does not increase physical VRAM; instead it reassigns existing unified memory, allowing the machine to behave as if it had a larger graphics buffer. Changes are reversible, and the app requires explicit administrator permission for each modification.
