Antville
Free, open source project aimed at the development of a high performance, feature rich weblog hosting software.
Antville provides a self‑hosted, open‑source platform for creating and managing large numbers of blogs. Written in server‑side JavaScript and built on Helma Object Publisher, it stores content in a relational database such as PostgreSQL, MySQL or MariaDB, and can be run with Helma’s embedded Jetty web server or any external server of choice. The software is designed for high performance, allowing tens of thousands of blogs to be served limited only by the underlying server capacity.
The system targets individuals or organizations that need a free, subscription‑free solution for hosting multiple weblogs, offering features typical of modern blog platforms while remaining lightweight enough for easy installation and maintenance. Documentation, support forums and a public demo are available, and the project encourages contributions and custom modifications under the Apache‑2.0 license.
Antville’s stable codebase is ready for production use, though users are asked to report any bugs they encounter. Its architecture leverages Helma’s object‑container model and templating capabilities, simplifying database interactions and URL mapping for hierarchical site structures.
