BlackHole 16ch
Virtual Audio Driver
BlackHole is a macOS virtual audio loopback driver that enables one application to send its audio output directly to another application without introducing additional latency. It creates virtual audio devices that appear in the system’s sound settings, allowing audio streams to be routed between software such as streaming tools, podcast editors, or video‑conference platforms.
The driver supports both 2‑channel and 16‑channel configurations and works with all standard sample rates from 44.1 kHz up to 192 kHz. It is compatible with macOS versions starting from Mavericks (10.10) and runs on both Intel‑based Macs and Apple‑silicon devices.
Typical users include streamers, podcasters, online instructors, audio engineers, producers, and composers who need a reliable, low‑latency method to capture or redirect audio between applications on a Mac. The project is maintained as a stable, open‑source package with documentation and support available through its GitHub repository.
