The desktop application measures the actual data‑transfer rate of an Internet connection and compares it with the speed promised in the user’s contract. It provides a quick, on‑demand test that records the measured bandwidth and presents the result in a simple interface. Users can also perform a browser‑based test to see the performance of their web browsing session.

In addition to fixed‑line testing, the suite includes a mobile component for detecting coverage gaps in cellular networks. The mobile app records signal availability (no network, 2G, 4G, 5G) and stores the information locally, which can then be visualised on a map alongside interactive tables and graphics. This helps users document areas of reduced service.

The software is officially maintained by the German Bundesnetzagentur and is intended for consumers who need to verify whether their Internet service meets contractual specifications, as well as for those who must provide evidence of sub‑contractual performance. It runs on macOS and is released in a stable version.
