CodexBar

Menu bar usage monitor for Codex and Claude

Visit

A tiny macOS menu‑bar utility displays real‑time usage limits for a range of AI code assistants, including Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, Gemini, Antigravity, Droid, Copilot, z.ai and Kilo. It shows separate session and weekly bars, reset times and optional credit counts, updating automatically via Sparkle or Homebrew. The UI is minimal, with no Dock icon; clicking the menu card reveals detailed usage, reset schedules and any incident badges.

The app runs on macOS 14 or later on both Apple Silicon and Intel hardware. It reads existing browser cookies from Safari, Chrome or Firefox to obtain limits, falling back to local CLI output when cookies are unavailable. Permissions are limited to Full Disk Access for cookie reading, Keychain access for tokens, and Files & Folders when provider CLIs need project directories.

A bundled CLI enables scripting and CI integration, and Linux‑only builds are available through Linuxbrew. The project is open source, stable, and does not store passwords.
