Domoticz provides a locally hosted platform for monitoring and controlling a wide range of smart‑home devices, including lights, switches, and sensors for temperature, rain, wind, UV, energy, gas, water and more. It runs on Linux, Windows, macOS, FreeBSD, Raspberry Pi and other ARM boards, offering a scalable HTML5 web interface that adapts to desktop and mobile browsers. The system supports over 150 hardware types such as Z‑Wave, Zigbee, MQTT, Philips Hue and RFXCOM, and can send push notifications to iPhone, Android and desktop clients.

Automation is achieved through event scripting with dzVents (Lua), Python plugins and Blockly, with extended logging and auto‑learning of sensors and switches. Users can manually create switch codes, share external devices and configure alerts without requiring cloud services, keeping all data and execution local.

The software is free, open‑source (GPL‑3.0) and self‑hostable, with a stable code base maintained for more than a decade. Installation is straightforward via packages or Docker, and a setup wizard guides initial configuration, while community support is available through forums and documentation.
