E-Label

Open‑E‑Label is a self‑hostable web application that generates electronic labels for wine bottles sold in the European Union. It creates QR‑code based labels that convey allergy, energy, ingredient and nutritional information, allowing consumers to access product details via a smartphone scan instead of reading paper labels. The system is built with ASP.NET Core and distributed as a Docker image, enabling straightforward deployment on any platform that supports containers.

The project targets wineries, distributors and regulators who need to meet EU labeling requirements while offering multilingual support for consumers across member states. By providing an open‑source, MIT‑licensed codebase, it allows organizations to run the service internally without subscription fees or proprietary lock‑in, and to adapt the label format to their own branding or compliance workflows.

Key technical attributes include multilingual translation via Lokalise, compliance‑focused data fields, and a stable, production‑ready release. The solution is free to use, can be customized, and is intended to reduce paper waste by replacing traditional labels with QR‑code enabled electronic equivalents.
