EDFbrowser
EDF+ and BDF+ viewer and toolbox
EDFbrowser is a free, open‑source viewer and toolbox for time‑series storage formats such as EDF, EDF+, BDF and BDF+. It runs on macOS, Linux and Windows without requiring external runtimes like Python, Octave or Matlab, and can handle large datasets. The program includes built‑in validators for EDF/BDF files and supports a wide range of conversion utilities, including import from Nihon Kohden EEG, MIT, ISHNE, SCP‑ECG, and other proprietary formats, as well as export to ASCII and other EDF variants.
The interface provides annotation and header editing, a suite of digital filters (Butterworth, Chebyshev, Bessel, FIR, notch), and signal‑processing tools such as power‑spectrum analysis, color density spectral arrays, hypnogram generation, and QRS detection. Users can synchronize video playback, perform waveform averaging, and apply montage operations, while precise measurements are enabled by crosshairs and zoom functions.
Additional utilities include file reduction, cropping, decimation, splitting, resampling, and compatibility checking. The software also offers converters for specific medical data types, such as Mortara XML ECG, Finometer, and Bmeye Nexfin, making it a comprehensive toolkit for researchers and clinicians working with biomedical signal recordings.
