Weasis

Free DICOM viewer for displaying and analyzing medical images

Visit

Weasis is an open‑source DICOM viewer available as a standalone application and as a web‑based component. It runs on Windows, Linux and macOS and is built with a modular architecture that allows integration with PACS, RIS, HIS or EHR systems. The viewer supports a broad range of DICOM objects—including multi‑frame, enhanced, MPEG, SR, PR, KOS, SEG, AU, RT and ECG files—as well as common image formats such as TIFF, JPEG and PNG. Users can retrieve images via DICOM Query/Retrieve or DICOMWeb, and export data in DICOMDIR, ZIP, ISO, TIFF, JPEG or PNG, or send studies to remote servers.

The interface provides high‑resolution rendering powered by OpenCV, with tools for pan, zoom, windowing, rotation, orthogonal multiplanar reconstruction, measurements and annotations that can be saved in Presentation States or XML. It also supports HiDPI displays, color histograms, pseudo‑color rendering and a responsive layout that adapts to operating‑system settings.

Weasis is aimed at clinicians, radiology departments, research networks and patients who need a free, cross‑platform solution for viewing, analyzing and sharing medical images while maintaining compatibility with existing clinical information systems.
