Eloquent
Free/open-source Bible study application, based on the SWORD Project
The application provides a macOS‑only environment for reading and researching biblical texts. Users can open multiple Bible translations, ranging from Hebrew to Albanian, and view them side by side in single or triple‑pane layouts. In addition to the core Scriptures, the program can display devotionals, commentaries, dictionaries, and lexicons, allowing scholars to consult reference material without leaving the interface.
A built‑in module manager supplies access to a large library of resources that are part of the SWORD Project, supporting more than fifty languages. The manager lets users download, install, and update modules directly within the application, ensuring a wide selection of texts and study aids is available offline.
The software also includes search capabilities and a services feature that enables other programs to retrieve Bible passages through the application. Its stable, open‑source codebase is distributed under a permissive license, making it suitable for anyone seeking a free, customizable Bible study tool on macOS.
