Equibop

Equibop is a fork of the Vesdesktop client that provides a custom Discord desktop application for macOS and Linux. It bundles the Equicord extension preinstalled, offering a lighter and faster alternative to the official Discord client while preserving core messaging and voice features. The Linux build supports screen sharing with audio on Wayland, and includes privacy‑focused changes that prevent Discord from accessing system resources.

The application adds several user‑oriented enhancements, such as tray customization with voice‑activity detection and notification badges, and command‑line flags for toggling microphone, deafen, and voice‑activity detection status. Users can also supply custom arguments and enable debug logging for the arRPC‑bun component. Persistent flag configuration is supported via a simple text file in the user’s XDG config directory.

Equibop can be installed from official releases, the project website, or community packages for Arch, Void, and NixOS. Source builds require Git and Bun, with optional compilation of the LibVesktop helper library for Linux D‑Bus integration. The project maintains a Discord server for community support and development discussion.
