evcc

Extensible Electric Vehicle Charge Controller and home energy management system.

evcc is a self‑hosted, open‑source controller that coordinates electric‑vehicle charging with home energy resources. It runs on standard hardware such as a Raspberry Pi or Docker container and provides a web interface for monitoring and configuring charging behavior, battery usage, and heating systems. The system can automatically direct surplus solar generation to the vehicle, follow dynamic electricity tariffs, and schedule charging based on departure time and target state of charge.

The software supports a wide range of devices without requiring cloud services. It integrates with many wall‑box brands, solar inverters, battery storage units, smart switches, heat pumps, and general energy meters, allowing users to combine equipment from different manufacturers. Features include load‑management to protect the household connection, automatic power reduction in response to grid‑operator signals, and a companion mobile app for remote control.

Because evcc is released under the MIT license, it can be freely modified and extended. The project is community‑driven, with transparent development and no subscription or proprietary lock‑in, making it suitable for homeowners and hobbyists who want full control over their energy‑management setup.
