ExifRenamer

Tool to rename digital photos, movie- and audio-clips

Visit

ExifRenamer reads the EXIF date‑time metadata from digital photos, movies and audio clips and renames the files according to a user‑defined pattern, defaulting to “YYYY‑MM‑DD_hh‑mm‑ss”. By converting cryptic camera‑generated names such as “pic0001.jpg” into chronological identifiers, the tool lets macOS users sort large collections simply by alphabetical order in Finder. It works with a wide range of camera vendors and supports both 12‑hour and 24‑hour time formats, optional prefixes or suffixes, and handling of duplicate timestamps.

The application integrates with Apple’s Image Capture as an automatic task, enabling one‑click renaming of newly imported media. Users can drag and drop files onto the program icon, preview changes, and adjust settings such as time‑offset correction, destination‑folder creation, and sequence counters. An advanced configuration mode provides fully customizable naming styles and additional actions like file deletion or forwarding to other applications.

Designed for macOS Sequoia, ExifRenamer is a stable, GUI‑based utility that streamlines organization of photo, video and audio archives by leveraging embedded metadata, while offering flexible naming options for both casual and power users.
