FlowDown

FlowDown is a native macOS and iOS application that lets users interact with AI models through a locally running agent. It supports any OpenAI‑compatible API, including self‑hosted services, and can run built‑in free models, as well as providers such as OpenAI, Claude via OpenRouter, Alibaba Cloud, and ByteDance. Users may also connect local deployments like Ollama and MLX, giving flexibility to choose cloud‑based or on‑device inference.

The app emphasizes privacy by keeping conversations and API keys on the device, with optional iCloud sync for settings and history. It offers a rich interface featuring Markdown rendering, syntax highlighting, and smooth performance built in Swift, without web wrappers. Workflow enhancements include vision and audio capabilities, file attachments, real‑time web search, reusable prompt templates, and deep integration with Apple Shortcuts for automation.

FlowDown’s source code is released under the AGPL‑3.0 license, allowing inspection and modification. It runs on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, as well as iPhone and iPad, providing a consistent experience across the Apple ecosystem while supporting a wide range of AI models and tools.
