Gopher64

Gopher64 is a cross‑platform emulator for the Nintendo 64, offering a stable core that runs on macOS, Windows and Linux. It reproduces the console’s hardware behavior, allowing users to load and play ROM files, and supports features such as CPU overclocking, cheats, savestates, and a CRT shader for visual fidelity. The emulator also includes a netplay system that lets players connect through cloud servers or self‑hosted LAN servers, enabling multiplayer sessions with other users.

The software is distributed as standalone executables for each operating system, with additional packaging options like a macOS Homebrew cask, a Flatpak for Linux, and a portable mode that keeps all game data alongside the executable. Keyboard and Xbox‑style controller mappings are provided by default, and the project supplies documentation for building from source using Rust and SDL3.

Gopher64 is released under the GPLv3 license, incorporating code adapted from mupen64plus and ares. Community contributions are welcomed, and the project maintains a Discord channel for support and discussion.
