KeyUp
KeyUp turns your keyboard into a game.
KeyUp is a free Chrome extension that replaces ordinary keystrokes with punch and kick sound effects, adding a stadium crowd background and a knockout animation when the user presses Cmd + Enter. As the user types in any web‑based text field—such as Gmail, Google Docs, Notion, Slack, Twitter/X, GitHub, or VS Code for the Web—the extension plays light, medium, and heavy strike sounds corresponding to different keys, turning the act of typing into a simple fighting‑game experience.
The extension works on any site that allows typing, though sites with strict Content Security Policies may limit audio playback. It does not record, store, or transmit the characters typed; it only detects key‑press events to trigger the audio, and all data remains within the browser. Users can adjust the volume or disable the typing sound effects via the popup, and per‑site disabling is planned for future releases.
KeyUp’s core offering is a playful audio overlay that makes routine typing feel like a combat arena, with additional themed worlds and retro arcade music slated for later addition. The fighting theme is free forever, while extra worlds may be offered as one‑time purchases in the future.
