LyricsX

Lyrics for iTunes, Spotify and Vox.

Source

The application runs on macOS (10.11+) and integrates with a range of music players, including iTunes, Spotify and Vox. It automatically searches for and downloads live lyrics from multiple online sources, then displays them on the desktop or in the menubar. Users can customize font, color and position, adjust timing offsets, and navigate songs by double‑clicking lyric lines or dragging the playback position.

Lyrics are stored in a custom “LRCX” format that extends standard LRC files with word‑level timestamps and multi‑language translations, supporting automatic conversion between Traditional and Simplified Chinese. The app can import and export lyrics via drag‑and‑drop, launch and quit together with the music player, and offers a menubar shortcut for quick access.

The project is open‑source, free to use, and distributed through Homebrew, the Mac App Store, or direct download. It relies on several libraries such as LyricsKit for lyric retrieval and MusicPlayer for player detection, and includes a community‑maintained editor for LRCX files.
